The tournament for U10 Friday night games have been canceled do to the weather and field conditions. We will be playing Sat. schedule starting at 9am down at Dawson. Hopefully the weather is much better and we can get our games in.

The diamonds are being prepared and we are still planning to play tonight.
It looks like I spoke too soon. The City just informed our groundskeepers that Dawson fields will be closed for play tonight. We will post the make up date here on the website within the next few days.

JYBSA Recognized on ESPN - "Outside the Lines"
Dear JYBSA Families,Here’s the latest update on the Sports Complex project!
First, we want to make two very important clarifications: JYBSA will recognize EVERY donation permanently on the “Walls of Fame” at the new complex, and EVERY pledge can be spread out over time and pad by different methods (cash, check, credit card, stock donations, etc.), allowing you to pay the way you want and at the pace you can afford. We need donations to make this project a reality. If you have already donated, thank you!!! If you have not yet made a pledge, please consider giving what you can and asking your family and friends to do the same, knowing that every donation will help JYBSA make a difference for Janesville kids.

Next, ESPN (yes, ESPN!) ran a story on our project on its “Outside the Lines” program yesterday. Great job, Dave Ellis! If you didn’t see the story, you can check it out at: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4290079&categoryid=3286128.
Next, the construction continues! The City’s work is nearly finished: all the fields are graded, the grass is growing, and it’s starting to look like a ballpark! Our work comes next. The irrigation system is being installed – that work should be done in a month or so. After that, our priorities are to pay for the fencing, dugouts, scoreboards, concession stands, and lighting (in that order). We’ve raised 25% of what we need to pay for those things, but we need donations to raise the remaining 25%. Please spread the word! (If you have a Facebook account, look for our group called “Friends of Janesville Youth Baseball & Softball Association” and invite all your Facebook Friends to join, too). The Sports Complex project is going to serve Janesville for the next 100 years. With everyone working together and donating what they can, we are going to make the project a reality.

Week 8 June 29 & July 1, 2009
Week 8 is coming up, games should be as they are on our schedule. We do have one makeup game at the U10 level this week. and the end of the season is approaching quickly. Last week I had stated that there was going to be a league tournament at Dawson Park on July 17 - 19, unfortunately those days are not available to us so we are going to bump the tournament to July 24 - 26. This tournament will include U10 teams - High School teams. The U10 teams will start on Friday July 24 @ Monterey Park and finish on Sat. July 25 @ Dawson Park. The U14 tournament will start and most likely be completed on Sat. July 25 @ Dawson. The High School League tournament will start Sat. July 25 and finish on Sunday July 26. We will be posting schedules A.S.A.P. The tournament format we are using is a "Round Robin Tournament" where everyone will play everyone one time. ASA rules will be used for the tournament with special modifications for the lower levels.

Week 7 Back on track.

Happy Fathers Day;
We are in week 7 for the girls youth fast pitch league. Everything this week is as it is in our schedule. We will be making up the other games for the U10 league continuing in week 8, 9 & 10. U14 games are all made up and hopefully the weather will cooperate for the rest of the season. Remember we are planing to have a league tournament hopefully down at Dawson for U14 & U10 league teams the weekend of July 18 - 20. Congrats to the U14 & U12 tournament teams for participating in their first tourney of the summer hopefully it was a good experience for all. U10 tourney team 1 coached by Brian Uhl; please turn in your tourney uniforms this Monday at your league game as the other U10 tourney team will need them for this coming weekend. Thank You.
